A spoiler-light first-session plan for Black Friday Janitor covering task types, route planning, organization, abilities, and save-friendly stopping points.
Questions answered
What should I do first in Black Friday Janitor?
Can the whole mall be finished in one session?
Black Friday Janitor is deliberately enormous. The official Steam page describes more than 30,000 things to tidy, so your first goal is not “finish the mall.” Your first goal is to create a route you can repeat without losing track of the work.
What are the four cleanup tasks?
The official description separates the job into four visible kinds of work:
| Task | Official scale | First-session approach |
|---|---|---|
| Misplaced products | 21,000+ | Keep products grouped by the nearby store before shelving them. |
| Rubbish | 10,000 | Clear obvious floor clutter during each pass. |
| Spills | 500 | Add every visible dirty patch to the same zone sweep. |
| Fallen objects | 300 | Reset them before your final visual check. |
The counts above come from the official Steam listing. For a more focused workflow, continue to the cleaning guide.
How should you plan the first route?
Choose a start point you can recognize, then work in one direction. Avoid crossing the mall for a single uncertain product. Instead, keep a small mental or written queue and resolve it when your route reaches the likely destination. The mall map planner gives you a zone log without pretending an unverified annotated map is complete.
A reliable first loop is:
- Survey one compact zone without moving anything.
- Group nearby products by likely storefront.
- Collect rubbish and handle visible spills.
- Reset fallen objects.
- Look back from the entrance and record anything unresolved.
When you are ready to expand beyond the first zone, use the suggested store order to match Gilbert’s, Peer’s and the Cinema with the abilities that reduce their heaviest task types.
When should you use abilities?
Steam confirms that abilities can be unlocked and strengthened to make cleanup faster, but the public store description does not document names, costs or unlock order. Treat each new ability as a measured upgrade: test it in a familiar zone, compare the time saved, and only then change your usual route.
We will add an ability table after every entry can be checked in-game. Until then, this guide will not guess at upgrade names or values.
What should you do before ending a session?
Finish one clearly bounded zone and leave a short note about the next start point. Steam Cloud is listed as a supported feature, but a clean stopping ritual still prevents confusion when you return. Review the organization strategy and the FAQ before a longer run.
What should beginners avoid?
Do not scatter products across several stores, chase one mystery item through the entire mall, or trust an unverified checklist as complete. The fastest-looking action can create more walking later. The tips and common mistakes guide explains how to keep momentum without turning the shift into guesswork.
Source and verification status
