Black Friday Janitor Updates and Source Log

Dated Black Friday Janitor release facts, current patch status and a transparent source-review log for guides, stores, achievements and compatibility.

This page is the wiki’s source and update log. It has two jobs:

  1. record major developer-published facts and patch changes that affect guides;
  2. show when the wiki rechecked important claims and what remains uncertain.

It is not a changelog for every wording edit on the site. For version-by-version game changes, use the detailed patch history.

Latest documented patch v1.0.5 — September 24, 2026

The Steam Deck status is a change from the wiki’s launch-week copy. Current Valve compatibility data marks the game Verified, so pages that previously said “no official rating” were updated on September 27.

Current patch status: v1.0.5

Patch v1.0.5 adds a rebind option for the shelf-pickup key and changes automatic shelf placement so items are placed back-to-front unless the item has multiple colors.

It also brings a mall-loading change from the earlier experimental branch into the public version. The developer notes say that change improved loading-crash stability for some users.

That matters to the site’s troubleshooting content: users should confirm they are on v1.0.5 or newer before relying on older launch-week crash workarounds.

See Patch History for v1.0.1 through v1.0.5.

What changed in earlier patches?

v1.0.3

The developer fixed a problem involving the number-of-tasks-completed achievement, corrected more mislabeled objects and fixed a Luxury Store bag placement.

The achievement fix affects the task progress guide and 100% checklist.

v1.0.4

The Even Color Update changed affected color variants to generate in even distributions for new runs. Existing saves keep their original generated colors.

The same patch made Gather much less likely to pull a shared item from another store, fixed dark boxes and fixed a cinema-floor hole.

Those changes affect the color sorting guide, abilities guide and ABC Cinema guide.

Source hierarchy used by this wiki

Not every claim deserves the same confidence label.

Level 1 — developer / platform source

Examples:

  • Steam store description;
  • Steam achievement requirements;
  • developer patch notes;
  • Valve Steam Deck compatibility data.

These can support direct factual statements when the source clearly says the thing being claimed.

Level 2 — official screenshot evidence

A screenshot can support what is actually visible: storefront signs, relative positions in the same frame, department signage or visible task clutter.

It cannot prove a corridor connection outside the frame or a complete store inventory.

Level 3 — reproducible in-game observation

Direct play evidence can support exact routes, boundaries, item placement and mechanics when the observation is recorded with a game version and enough context to reproduce it.

This is the main missing layer for the complete mall map.

Level 4 — player report

Steam reviews, discussions and walkthroughs are useful for strategy and troubleshooting patterns. They are labeled as player-reported rather than converted into official values.

What the wiki reviewed on September 27

The AdSense/quality pass triggered a broader factual and editorial review:

  • replaced vague unsourced wording with player-informed or source-specific labels;
  • changed “Recently verified” UI labels to “Recently updated”;
  • clarified the About page’s source and correction method;
  • added a deeper Achievements category hub;
  • marked the Recent aggregation page noindex and removed it from the sitemap;
  • refreshed Steam Deck status to the current Verified result;
  • updated patch coverage through v1.0.5;
  • expanded the 100% completion, cleaning, abilities and mall-area guides;
  • separated developer facts, screenshot evidence, player reports and editorial strategy more explicitly.

This is a quality change, not a claim that every gameplay detail has now been tested directly.

What is still missing direct in-game evidence?

The following should not be treated as fully mapped facts yet:

  • complete store-to-wing assignments;
  • exact boundaries between the Main Area, South Wing and East Wing;
  • a complete topological mall map;
  • per-store task totals for all 18 stores;
  • complete product-to-shelf database;
  • full ability tree names, costs and rank values;
  • one universal fastest 100% route;
  • reproducible secret/easter-egg entries.

The Secrets page remains noindex until at least one hidden detail meets the site’s evidence standard.

How to submit a correction

Use the contact page and include:

  • the URL with the problem;
  • the exact sentence or table row;
  • current game version;
  • a developer/source link or reproducible in-game observation;
  • screenshot/video context when location matters.

Corrections are evaluated against the same source hierarchy above. A single unsupported comment may be useful as a lead, but it is not automatically promoted to a factual claim.

Sources

Core facts are checked against the official Steam store, official Steam Community hub and current Valve/Steam compatibility metadata. Patch v1.0.5 is cross-checked in SteamDB patch history.
