Questions answered

Should you save Gilberts for last?
Several long-session players recommend leaving Gilberts until late because of its dense inventory. It is advice rather than a requirement; stronger Gather and carrying capacity simply reduce the repeated work.
Which supermarket departments are visible?
Official imagery shows Bread, Baking, Pasta & Rice, Tinned Food, Cereal and Fruit signs in a supermarket interior, but the storefront is outside the frame, so this wiki does not claim every pictured aisle is conclusively Gilberts.

Player reports describe Gilberts as one of Black Friday Janitor’s biggest and most mentally dense stores. Those reports mention a tightly packed grocery layout, large product volume and aisle signage that can be difficult to interpret. The practical answer is not to memorize the whole supermarket: divide it into department-sized blocks and refuse to mix unfinished blocks.

When should you start Gilberts?

Enter early if grocery sorting is the part of the game you enjoy most. For an efficiency route, save it until Gather and carrying capacity have improved. Multiple players who completed or approached the end of the mall independently report leaving the grocery store late, and one specifically notes that a carry capacity around 50 made the dense work easier.

That number is a player-specific build, not a required threshold. The useful test is simpler: if one shelf still demands many individual floor-to-shelf trips, complete smaller stores first. Follow the best store order for the broader route decision.

How should you divide the supermarket?

Use visible department signs as boundaries, even when the shelf labels themselves feel confusing:

  1. Choose one signed department or one complete aisle face.
  2. Move obvious matches to that block before touching an adjacent department.
  3. Build a small uncertainty group at the aisle end rather than scattering guesses.
  4. Finish both sides of the aisle and its endcaps.
  5. Recheck the floor, then advance to the next sign.

Official supermarket imagery visibly includes Bread, Baking, Pasta & Rice, Tinned Food, Cereal and Fruit. Because the screenshot does not show the storefront sign, those names are verified as supermarket departments but not asserted as a complete Gilberts inventory.

The store product reference tracks which grocery categories are visible while keeping the unresolved storefront association explicit.

How do Gather and carrying capacity help?

Gather is useful when many products belonging to the active store remain on the floor. Patch v1.0.4 made it less likely to pull from another store for the few shared items, reducing—but not eliminating—the need to verify shelf context. Greater carrying capacity reduces return trips across long aisles.

Use abilities inside a bounded department. Gathering across the entire supermarket at once can produce a large mixed inventory that is harder to reason about than the original floor. The organization guide gives a three-state method for obvious, likely and unknown matches.

Where should you search for the last products?

Player reports say items generally stay within a radius of their store. Search locally before walking to another wing:

  • Both sides of the Gilberts entrance.
  • Floor space behind endcaps and displays.
  • Borders between two department signs.
  • Similar packages placed in the wrong neighboring category.
  • Products hidden by shelf geometry or dense piles.

Then separate product progress from rubbish, spills and fallen objects. A visually complete grocery shelf does not prove every task category is complete.

How do you avoid burnout?

Gilberts is large enough to treat as several sessions. End after a named department or a clean aisle block, record the next start sign, and switch to a smaller store if the packages stop being distinguishable. Community feedback is split: some players consider the supermarket the game’s most varied and satisfying store, while others find its density and signage overwhelming. Both reactions support using explicit stopping boundaries.

Evidence and limitations

Confirmed by public sources: Gilberts is one of the 18 achievement stores, and official imagery shows a dense supermarket with readable grocery department signs. Player-reported: multiple long-session players describe the grocery store as a large late-run task. Not confirmed: an exact product total, full inventory, every shelf assignment or a required ability rank.
